Below you will find some common questions when it comes to getting HydraFacials or Custom Facials done at Bladed Brows.

  • What are my Before-Care guidelines?
Here are some things that you can do before your Microblading, Microshading, or Nanoblading appointment to ensure that your new Bladed Brows have a healthy, non-irritated surface to be created on: What to avoid 1-3 days prior to your appointment - Avoid consuming caffeine day of, prior to your appointment. - Avoid consuming alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and/or any other blood thinners at least 48-72 hours before your appointment. *If you are currently under a prescription, please confirm with your doctor/physician before stopping your medication.* What to avoid 1-2 weeks prior to your appointment - Avoid tweezing, waxing, and electrolysis for about 2 weeks before the procedure. If you can, try to grow out your eyebrows so we have the most hair to work with, as we are not damaging any existing hair, but creating strokes around them. - Do not tint your eyebrows 1 week before your procedure. Sometimes there may be left over pigment from the tinting that gets in the way of the area we are working on. What to avoid at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment - Botox, fillers, laser treatments, facial peels, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, etc. - Exposure to Strong Sunlight. This is to ensure that your skin is in a healthy condition, not sun-burned or irritated. Please note that it is recommended that any medication that is prescribed to you by your doctor/physician should be discussed with them prior to stopping your medication! It is also recommended to avoid being on your menstrual cycle during your appointment as we are typically more sensitive during this time and/or taking medication. Also, if you have anything in your brow leading up to your appointment, such as any bumps, rashes, etc, please reach out to your brow artist and send over photos to ensure we can still work on the area on the day of your appointment!
  • What are my After-Care guidelines?
It is crucial that you do your best to follow our aftercare instructions to avoid the risk of infection, aid in proper healing, and protect your investment. Proper after-treatment care has the most weight in ensuring you have correctly healed brows because failure to follow the aftercare may result in losing up to 80% of the strokes! During your Microblading/Microshading/Nanoblading appointment, we will examine your skin and give you proper aftercare catered to you specifically. Please follow the aftercare instructions we provide you upon leaving your appointment, and if you have any further questions, feel free to contact us directly. Here are general Aftercare guidelines that everyone needs to follow: Please avoid the following for the next 7 days: - Immersing in water, such as soaking in the bathtub, hot tub, jacuzzi, or swimming - Hot sauna/ steam room - Excessive sweating - Putting anything (including makeup) on your brows other than the ointment given to you by your artist. - Picking, peeling, or scratching of the brow area to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment. Please avoid the following for the next 30 days: - Sun tanning/Sun exposure. Even after the first four weeks, always apply SPF 15 or higher when outdoors to protect the eyebrows. If you will be going on vacation or plan on being in the sun shortly after your appointment, it is probably best to reschedule! - Laser treatment, chemical peels, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, and or any anti-aging creams containing any acids or retinol on the face or neck (even if you avoid your brow area) - Any product, prescription, or chemical that exfoliates your skin will fade your brows; Glycolic Acid, Retinol, Retin-A, Accutane, Vitamin-C, Salicylic Acid, TCA, Lactic Acid, etc. With any of these above treatments, they should be avoided indefinitely over the brow area. Anything that will exfoliate the skin, will ultimately lighten up the pigment sooner! **Taking antibiotics shortly after your appointment may result in premature pigment loss and lack of retention. If you have any upcoming surgeries that will most likely result in an antibiotic prescription, it would be beneficial to reschedule your appointment!**
  • What is the difference between Microblading, Microshading, & Nano Brows?
Whether you are getting Microblading, Microshading or Nanoblading depends on your ideal brow look, skin type, etc. All treatments above will result in a hair-like, natural looking eyebrow, however, the techniques in which it's done differ. Microblading uses a handheld blade to create little strokes that look like hair. This service is most ideal for dry-normal skin types. Microshading is the combination of Microblading and manual/machine shading. At the very end of creating Microblading strokes, the artist will go in and shade the skin in between the strokes to add more fullness/depth to the brow. This is most ideal for oily-all skin types. Nano Brows are done by creating the initial pass of hair-like strokes with the Microblading tool, but then going over them with a machine that uses a very fine needle. The pigment is placed a little deeper into the skin, without continuing to cut into it, for a less invasive process. This is most ideal for sensitive, mature-all skin types.
  • Does Microblading, Microshading, or Nanoblading effect the hairs I already have?
Great news! Microblading, Microshading, & Nanoblading actually stimulate hair growth. Not only that, but we are also creating strokes AROUND your natural hair, avoiding harm to the existing brow hair.
  • How long will my Microblading, Microshading, or Nanoblading appointment take?
Your appointment will take anywhere from 2-3 hours from start to finish. You will have breaks in between of course! This appointment consists of: - Having a quick consultation where we discuss the entire process (unless you have already come in for a consultation) (10-20 minutes) - Measuring and mapping out an admired eyebrow shape (20-40 minutes) - Microblading/Microshading/Nanoblading process (1-1.5 hours)
  • How long will my new eyebrows last?
Depending on your skin type and how well you take care of your brows after treatment, Microbladed, Microshaded, or Nanobladed eyebrows should last anywhere from 1.5-3 years before needing a touch up! As an artist, I make sure to do what is needed to ensure the best possible healed result. The retention after that is determined by aftercare, lifestyle, medications, sun exposure, etc.
  • Can I be in the sun/tan after getting my eyebrows Microbladed, Microshaded, or Nanobladed?
Sun exposure can alter the color of the strokes, sometimes turning them ashy/grayish. It is highly recommend to avoid sun exposure for at least 30 days after freshly Microblading, Microshading, or Nanoblading your brows to have the best healed results. After two weeks post treatment, it is also recommended to wear a facial SPF over the brows to protect them as much as possible! It will only make for longer lasting results!
  • Can I still wax and tweeze after having my brows done?
You will still have hair growth outside of the Microbladed, Microshaded, or Nanobladed eyebrow. After your brows are completely healed, you may continue to maintain them as you have prior. It is recommended to shape your brows after having it done if you have a lot of outside growth. Many times, you will feel as if you have lost your shape if you do not maintain them!
  • Can I have Microblading done if I am diabetic?
You MUST provide a doctors note clearing yourself to have Microblading done whether you have diabetes with maintenance medications and your blood sugar levels are controlled or if you are diabetic with NO maintenance medications/you're not sure if you have diabetes.
  • Will the color eventually turn pink/red?
The simple answer is NO! We use very high quality vegan pigments that do not leave unwanted pink/reddish tones. The color will stay very natural and just lighten over time!
  • Are the treatments painful?
Most clients compare it to tweezing. It may cause the nose to run and eyes to water a bit but it is tolerable. Everyone has a different pain tolerance, so there are many clients who have even napped during the treatment!
  • Who is INELIGIBLE for Microblading, Microshading, or Nanoblading?
Anyone who is: Pregnant or nursing Prone to keloid scarring Have Hepatitis, HIV, Skin Cancer Have Hemophilia Taking Accutane Diabetic (Would Need a Doctor's Note) Have Eczema/Psoriasis/Bumps/Acne in the Eyebrow Area
  • What is the difference between Microblading, Microshading, or Nanoblading & a traditional eyebrow tattoo?
Even though Microblading, Microshading, & Nanoblading are considered "tattoo" because we are depositing pigment into the skin, it differs in many ways. Tattooing is a little bit deeper than these services, but the most obvious difference is the appearance. Traditional tattooing is typically one solid color from the front of the brow to the tails, whereas Microblading, Microshading, & Nanoblading result in a very natural looking appearance as the strokes we create resemble brow hair as opposed to a solid color.
  • Can I have my brows Microbladed, Microshaded, or Nanobladed if I have previous Tattooing/Microblading?
We recommend that you send over a photo of your bare brows via email in order to determine if it is something we can work over. Typically, the previous pigment has to be light enough/almost gone in order to start fresh and provide an ideal result. Email Address: bladedbrows.mi@gmail.com
